Vintage baby clothes, how do you get rusty color out?
My grandmother gave me baby clothes for my daughter that belonged to me (1970s) and my father (1940s). Some of them have oxidized areas, kindof a rust color on the fabric. How can I remove the rust & clean the fabric without damaging it?
On the 70’s garments hand wash in nice hot water with regular detergent, rinse well and repeat a few times… this will take a while, but because the garments arent that old they ’should’ be fine.
The 40’s garments, are tougher than they seem, but try to be gentle with them, they are likely to contain Rayon, so 30-40 degree handwash with gentle detergent… if you can identify what the stain actually is then treat as silk and buy accordingly.
