Gymboree IS very overpriced even if their stuff is adorable. I happen to like the Children's place as well - especially the footie PJ's. Sometimes Gap has good sales. But I would never pay $10-25 for something that will only last a short time. Id rather buy the cheaper clothes so that I have more money to buy toys and what not. I can't fork over that much for an item my son isn't going to wear for very long. I think it's appropriate every once in a while, if you just LOVE the item....or if you find the perfect picture outfit or something... but seriously.... babies could care less what they are dressed in. I do like to shop at consignment shops.... I got 11 outfits and 8 pairs of pants for my son yesterday for less than $50.... all are in perfect hardly worn condition....and more than half of those items were name brand like Ralph Lauren, Gap, Gymboree, Children's Place, etc. The most expensive item I bought for him cost a whopping $3.50....seriously that's the way to go!! I've also found that the cheaper stuff is sized better..... Carter's stuff for instance almost seems to grow with my son... he can still fit in most of his 0-3 month clothes and he's a healthy 17lb, 6 month old little boy. Also.... my FAVORITE pair of pants that he has are Baby George Organic from Walmart.... they are 0-3 months and are just now getting snug (so sad about that)...they're super cute and have been worn a million times and still look brand new! As for the "I can afford it" comment........ shame on you for wasting your money... put it in the bank and let your child use it for college or a trust fund or something someday.
