How to prepare our dog for a newborn baby ?
I will be delivering our newborn baby this coming May and we want to ask for opinions and suggestions on how to prepare our toy poodle for the new member. Our dog would bark whenever he hears the doorbell or if we are out of his sight. he also sleeps with us every night and how can we bring him back to sleep to his own house ? We live in a small apt. and just a small noise can be heard from our baby’s room. Pls. help us with any feedback. thanks.
We bought the CD "Preparing Fido" which has baby sounds, we took the dog in the nursery when we were preparing it (so she would know what was going on) and before we came home my husband took a blanket that our daughter had been wrapped in to the dog so she could get used to her sent. She was very curious when we came home and had to sniff the baby out and kiss her hand. She does real well and is very protective.
